SEDC gets pat from Premier

KUCHING: The Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) has been commended for its various initiatives in combating corruption at the corporate level.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said these efforts by SEDC should be applauded as the principle of integrity should be embedded into the system as they strive to be a better organisation.

Among SEDC’s initiatives are the establishment of an Anti-Corruption Committee (JAR), Corruption Risk Management Plan, Organisation Anti-Corruption Pan as well as obtaining certification in MS ISO 37001; and Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS).

“SEDC has long recognised integrity and compliance as fundamental to a sound administrative and financial management. Indeed, integrity has been made among the core value of its governance.

“I believe that SEDC strives to instill integrity in their staff and ensure that it becomes the guiding principle in all their operations and actions. As one of the government vehicles, every staff of SEDC must possess high level of integrity, resilience and be innovative to win the trust of the people and build public confidence,” Abang Johari said.

He was addressing the corporation’s Integrity Day 2022 at Riverside Majestic Hotel today.

The Premier said that Integrity Day and other similar initiatives would foster better understanding among of the organisation on the importance of being responsible and having an honest workforce in delivering wide range of services for the people of Sarawak.

He said in the Sarawak Civil Service, integrity has been identified as one of its six shared values namely integrity, kind and caring, professionalism, sense of urgency and ownership, team spirit, and result oriented.

“SEDC is embarking on its Transformation Journey, and I would like to congratulate them on their efforts, wishing them every success in their Transformation Agenda.

“I would also like to applaud SEDC chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain and the rest of SEDC group for taking up such endeavor and to promote the spirit of integrity within the corporation.”
