TEBEDU: Efforts to increase the detection rate of cases through early screening for tuberculosis (TB) need to be improved, said Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada.

In stating this, Dr Simon said this infectious disease is worrying because it can be fatal if not treated properly.

“Therefore, it is important to seek immediate treatment if suspected of having TB to reduce the risk of transmission to others.

“We want the residents of Tebedu district to be free from TB infection and this disease can be fully treated.

“If not treated, TB can cause serious complications such as lung inflammation, organ damage and death,” he said.

According to Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), Dr Simon said this when officiating at the Serian Divisional Level World Tuberculosis Day Celebration at the Tebedu Community Hall, recently.

On a related note, he expressed his deepest appreciation to the Serian Division Health Office for making Tebedu district the final venue for the programme.
