SIBU: The Sibu Social Welfare Department (JKM) is seeking public help in looking for the family members of a six-year-old girl known as Dysebell.
JKM Sibu Division protection officer Willson Pilo in statement today, said the child was handed over by a woman to a couple in Jalan Market, Sibu at 10pm on December 23, 2016.
According to him, now Dysebell needs care and protection under Section 17 (1)(e) of the Child Act 2001.
Willson also said the child’s case has been taken to the Sibu Court and the protector is in the process of tracing the child’s biological mother for further placement and welfare purposes.
“We also welcome the next of kin or any individual who has information on the biological mother or next of kin of the child to contact the protector, Julia Nuai Gawing or me (Wilson) at 084-330675.
“They can also come to the JKM Sibu Division office, Sibu Islamic Complex, Floor 3, Jalan Awang Ramli Amit, 96000 Sibu,” he said.
Public help is needed to provide information that could help the protector in tracing the biological mother of the child, thus helping the court to make the best decision for the child’s welfare, Wilson pointed out.
