SERIAN: Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) should seize opportunities provided through government programmes in Sarawak to increase productivity and income, particularly in agriculture and livestock farming.
Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodities, and Regional Development Datuk Martin Ben said the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) has allocated RM150 million for his Kedup constituency, specifically to develop a network of agricultural roads.
“Residents whose lands are affected by these roads are to engage in farming activities individually, collaboratively, or through cooperative efforts using modern methods to enhance yields and income,” he said.
Martin made these remarks during a programme held recently with the people of Kampung Mentu Tapu as well as a certificate presentation ceremony involving the JKKK of Kampung Mentu Tapu.
Commenting on the progress of the clean water supply project managed by the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) in the Kedup area, he said that connections to households in several villages are yet to be implemented and will be continued in the second and third phases.
Additionally, Martin announced an allocation of RM120,000 from the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) grant to construct concrete drains in Mentu Tapu village.
He also pledged RM5,000 each from the Minor Rural Project (MRP) fund for JKKK, Women’s Bureau, and Youth Association of Kampung Mentu Tapu.
At the same event, Martin presented certificates of appointment to the new village chief, Jaludin Mor along with certificates of appreciation to the former village chief of Kampung Mentu Tapu, Augustine Minin.
