MIRI: Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Association Sarawak (WEPS) will organise a seminar here this Oct 28 for empowerment advancement and upskilling of women entrepreneurs and professionals especially in the city.
Organising chairperson, Lili Puk said the one-day seminar entitled ‘Women Entrepreneurs Seminar 2023’ targets to reach out to at least 150 participants from 27 non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
“Our main aim is to bring together women entrepreneurs, professionals, and experts to share their expertise and experiences, foster meaningful connections and inspire our women in business,” she said yesterday.
Puk, who is also WEPS vice president, is confident that the participants will find the seminar’s content and networking opportunities highly beneficial, adding that it will feature distinguished speakers on topics relevant to women in business.
“We have carefully chosen two knowledgeable speakers to update the participants on the latest business trend and strategies in E-Commerce, digitalisation, business accounting literacy, and business tax planning and strategies. Let us come together and benefit from this empowering seminar,” she urged.
Puk added that Jarone Choo, a co-founder of Horizn Digital Sdn Bhd will share his expertise on E-Commerce and digitalisation while Yong Nyet Yun who has extensive experience in taxation and corporate finance services will speak on business accounting literacy and business tax planning and strategies.
There will also be sharing sessions by four successful WEPS’ entrepreneurs during the seminar.
Puk added that the seminar is organised in response to the call by Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin to complement government’s efforts to empower more women in Sarawak in various entrepreneurial skills so that they can be successful in their respective industries.
Lee will officiate at the opening of the seminar to be held at Grand Palace Hotel here.
WEPS president, Serawa Budol will officially at the closing of the seminar which is among the activities organised by WEPS in line with its main objectives of promoting women’s entrepreneurial development through networking, education and training, as well as improving their social and psychological well-being
WEPS, set up in 1996, aspires to be a forerunner in developing entrepreneurial skills among women while striving to make a difference for its members and the community at large.
