SIMANGGANG: The Sungai Sengkuang Concrete Bridge, completed in 2022, has been officially opened.

According to its assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, the bridge, which was part of the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) and cost RM200,000, has significantly benefited residents by enhancing their agricultural activities and improving their standard of living.

“The project was funded by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government and the unity government,” said Harden during the opening ceremony recently.

He congratulated the Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) for their collaboration with the agencies, which made the project’s completion possible.

During the ceremony, he also announced the allocation of funds for the Minor Rural Project (MRP) for 2024. The JKKK Sengkuang Ulu and the Women’s Bureau will receive RM5,000 and RM3,000, respectively.

Additionally, RM150,000 has been allocated to upgrade the farm road leading to the oil palm and rubber plantations in Kpg Sengkuang Ulu under the RTP 2024 allocation.
