KOTA SAMARAHAN: Serba Dinamik Group Berhad is exploring space industry to provide internet connectivity in the rural areas.
Head of Operations at Serba Dinamik Sdn Bhd Kuching Branch, Muliawadi Imran told that the group was joining the New Space Economy programme through collaboration with Agensi Angkasa Malaysia (MYSA) and SWISSto12 which is based in Switzerland.
He said this during the launching ceremony of the first season of the Defence of the Ancients (DOTA) 2 championship at D-Virtual Park here which was officiated by Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri on Sunday (Mar 28).
“SWISSto12 specialises in satellite component making and Serba Dinamik will utilise satellite technology to provide internet connection to rural areas. It also serves as a gateway for larger markets in the industrial revolution (IR) 4.0.
“Moreover, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been inked by Serba Dinamik and seven public as well as private institutions of higher learning, namely Universiti Tun Hussein Onn (UTHM), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), UniKL, UniMY and i-CATS University College to assemble talents and create expertise in the field of space,” he explained.
Besides that, Serba Dinamik has also set up an Open Innovation Platform with the support of the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) and Serba DigitalX platform.
“Our facility is equipped with an innovation lab for incubators and start-ups. This platform for start-ups is connected to Serba Dinamik’s strategic labs, India Institute of Technology, Madras (Mixed Reality technology, AI technology & research) with 100 labs for research and development (R&D).
“It also includes partnership with Stanford AI Lab for research in AI, theory and practice as well as a Shenzhen lab that provides access to many start-ups overseas and networks with successful global start-ups,” said Muliawadi.
He added that Serba Dinamik also initiated Digital Tamu (D-Tamu) for the community in Samarahan areas which encouraged online payment through an application by Serba Dinamik IT Solution called QwikPay.
“We are also helping and empowering local traders to utilise online applications like QwikPay and Timogah apps through the workshops that we conduct.
“We also impose a low rental rate for the kiosks because we want to help the local traders,” added Muliawadi.
