KUCHING: Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad has picked up the challenge thrown by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
The company has decided to get involved in two technology related fields in the state.
“We are more than happy to accept the challenge given by the chief minister,” said Serba Dinamik Holdings Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Abdul Karim Abdullah.
He told reporters this on the sidelines of the Sarawak Beyond Paradigm Summit (SBPS) 2019 here recently.
“The only challenge for us is to review the scope and the size of the budget needed. We will plan an implementation structure, probably not all at the same time but divided into phases,” he said.
During Abang Johari’s speech to officiate at SBPS 2019, he pointed out that only Telekom Malaysia was channeling fibre optic cables to Sarawak through Mersing.
“Sarawak needs more than that to communicate directly with Hong Kong which is the international high-speed roaming network to Europe and the United States,” said Abang Johari.
He encouraged Serba Dinamik to build an additional gateway so that there would be no bottleneck issues due to high traffic.
“The state is now collaborating with a Brunei-based company which provides a gateway service to Hong Kong.
“This is the opportunity to prove that capable local companies can be collaborated with on the project.
“Building a gateway is an enormous challenge. It is not something new.
“Of course, there have been discussions on the topic before. It’s just that there are conditions that prohibit investors such as Serba Dinamik.
“What I can say now is that discussions are now taking place and we will monitor the latest developments closely.
Abang Johari also encouraged Serba Dinamik to be involved in global agriculture through organic means, such as fertigation and hydroponic, to fulfill the needs of the global market.
