With so many people visiting and travelling to Sarawak at the moment, busking activities can be seen in famous tourist spots throughout Sarawak.

Every weekend, these busking events are held to attract tourists and music lovers, as well as spice up the night with good music.

Midnite Busker, a well-known busking group, was formed in February 2014 by the Donis brothers and friends from various musical backgrounds and began entertaining people at Wireless Walk, Miri every Friday and Saturday from 9pm or 10pm until 2am.

“That is why we are known as Midnite Busker (without the S). Wireless Walk was only a footpath at the time, with no coverings or booths like it is now,” said Nizam, leader of Midnite Busker.

Midnite busker’s membership has grown from four to 14 persons at a time year after year.

“Some moved, some left to form their own busking group, and some stopped playing music, so the current line-up consists of three original members and three new ones. Alhamdulillah, the response to our performances has been really positive,” he added.

Midnite Busker has musicians who can perform a variety of beats and genres of music, as well as languages other than Malay and English, such as Iban, Javanese, Bajau, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Filipino, Thai, and Hindustani.
