SERIAN: The district level National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang celebration was officially launched with the theme of “Malaysia MADANI: SPIRIT OF FREEDOM” here.

The event took place at the Riih Daso Serian Village Hall last night (Aug 10).

Speaking at the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) programme, Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus said a free nation must maintain a spirit of freedom indefinitely, never to be oppressed or manipulated by any party.

“Loyalty and responsibility should be rooted in national and patriotic agendas, as this was the core struggle of earlier generations towards achieving independence,” he said.

He added that as Malaysians in a post-independence era, the people must continue to remain strong in all aspects, ensuring that the country is recognized as a leading nation on the global stage and its people respected as citizens of a free and sovereign country.

“With the sovereignty we have upheld to this day, the unity and prosperity within our society, regardless of race, religion, or culture, provide us with the strength to continue developing the nation in line with the changing times,” he added.

Apart from that, John encouraged the local community and its members to actively promote patriotism in their areas.

He also urged them to support the Information Department in encouraging the display of the Jalur Gemilang.

“The Madani Community can assist in spreading the One House, One Jalur Gemilang (1R1JG) campaign to encourage citizens to fly the Malaysian flag throughout National Month,” he added.
