SERIAN: Newcomers, Serian FA finally made it to the quarterfinals of the National People’s National Football League (LBR) 2016-2017.
The Sarawak representatives won the slot after defeating Keningau FA 2-1 at the Serian Sports Complex in Serian.
Serian FA’s goals were scored by Mahadi Razak in the 14th minute and Hadera Bakeri on 72nd minute.
“Finally, we made it to the quarter-finals. It was a very satisfying victory,” said acting manager Serian FA, Abang Marzuki Abang Raba’ee.
“Well done and congratulations to the players for getting through the initial hurdle to qualify for the quarter-finals,” he said.
Serian FA topped on Group C (Borneo zone) with 11 points from three wins, two draws and one loss from six matches.
The quarter-final round will see Serian FA playing against Kangar FA from Perlis in Kangar on April 15 (tomorrow).
Serian FA have a good chance to reach the semi-finals as they will play at opponents’ home ground in the first leg.
Serian FA, a line-up comprising several former Sarawak players, still have a chance to follow the footsteps of Kuching FA who emerged as champions last year.
