SERIAN: Seroban Bridge which costs RM500,000, is expected to be completed on Oct 9 this year.

Village chief George Joseph Dandu said, “We are thankful to the state government for approving the project.

“When completed, it will be like a dream come true for the people here, especially those who are living at the end of the village.

“The bridge will also ease the movements of those living at the end of the village to the main road.”

George was speaking to reporters after the handing over of the bridge project site from Serian District Council (SDC) to the contractor, Syarikat Rimujaya at Kampung Seroban here on Tuesday (July 21).

“These villagers usually cross the river, which separates the end at the end to the main road, by foot.

“However, this can be very dangerous when the river has strong currents or during flash floods,” he said.

Kampung Seroban has about 136 houses and a population of 769. Most of the villagers are Bidayuh.
