SIBU: The local Member of Parliament Oscar Ling Chai Yew’s Service Centre will host a subsidised Special Price Food programme from 8.30 am to 11.30 am this Saturday at Bisonte Grocer & Deli in Jalan Kuda here.
Announcing this, Ling said a total of 900 packages of subsidised food will be available for public, each priced at only RM30.
He stated that the subsidised food programme is a monthly initiative by his service centre.
“This time, the subsidised food package includes 10 kilogrammes of white rice, 10 eggs, five packs of instant noodles, a can of kernel corn, and a packet of flour. The original price of the package is RM47.79, but after a 32 per cent subsidy, it is available for just RM30,” he enthused.
He explained that residents who register on-site will receive one voucher, which entitles them to purchase one pack of milk powder (for children or the elderly).
For those who purchase milk powder priced above RM20, he said buyers will also receive a petrol rebate voucher worth RM5.
Parents with babies are welcomed to purchase the subsidised food and milk powder, he said, adding, buyers must bring their identification cards, as purchases on behalf of others are not allowed.
He pointed out that the subsidised food items are sold as a package and cannot be sold individually.
“Transactions must be made in cash, and each household is limited to one package. The programme is on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
“Purchasers will also receive a small gift from the service team when collecting their subsidised food,” he assured.
Ling emphasised that this programme demonstrates the government’s commitment to alleviating the economic burden on the people.
