MIRI: The Sarawak State Library here is inviting the public to attend a session about mental health among the elderly to be held today (Oct 23).
Pustaka Miri, in a statement, said elderly individuals face various challenges and are exposed to physical and mental health problems.
They may encounter serious mental health challenges such as depression, loneliness, and anxiety.
Therefore, social support is necessary for the elderly to lead their daily lives.
The programme, which is a collaboration between Miri Hospital and Pustaka Miri, will be held at Pustaka Miri’s Audio Visual room from 2 pm to 4.30 pm.
A medical officer from the Department of Psychiatry & Mental Health, Dr Chong Li will conduct this talk.
She will explain several factors that affect mental health among the elderly while raising awareness among the general public about the importance of maintaining the mental health of the elderly.
