A special fund for youth to venture into business was proposed.
Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman (GPS-Tupong) made this request in a motion of thanks to the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud’s speech.
He said that GPS government through the leadership of the Chief Minister aimed to make Sarawak a higher income state which also involved the youth.
“Various policies, strategies and initiatives are designed to achieve this goal and among the strategies to accelerate this objective is on the emphasis of digital economy, thus with the strengthening and enhancement of the digital economy infrastructure, internet initiatives can be implemented,” he said.
He also expressed his sincere gratitude to the chief minister for responding to the needs of the youth as he once brought the issue in the august House that they need a more innovative, creative and flexible way for youths to generate income.
“The GPS government’s effort through Centex to create service-based applications is very much welcomed and skilled individuals can register with this application and allow people to choose to use their services. Among the services that can be offered are plumbing, electrician, grass cutting, make-up, painting and many more,” he noted.
He added that an incubator centre where equipment are placed for the youths to utilise is also in the implementation stage and at the centre, the youths can use equipment or machines to run their business.
“Therefore, I would like to request the government to establish a special fund for youth who have started business recently or wanted to expand their business can apply to the fund.
“I understand that Annuar Rapaee (GPS-Nangka) has undertaken this initiative and urged the government to study the concepts implemented by Annuar and implement it at the government-level and policies should be formulated according to the current needs and requirements but at the same time ensuring that assistance or funds can be channelled to those who are truly committed, deserving and qualified,” he said.
