BINTULU: Seven foreigners were arrested in Ops Pintu conducted jointly by the Bintulu marine police and the Immigration Department, on Wednesday (Jan 21).
Sarawak Marine Police Region 5 commander ACP Shamsol Kassim said those arrested were among 24 foreigners checked during the operation.
The operation was carried out in the areas of Saberkas Jaya here at around 12.45am.
“Further investigation found that seven of the 24 foreigners had stayed past the allowed period.
“All seven were later detained and the case has been handed over to the Bintulu Immigration Department for further action,” ACP Shamsol said in a statement on Thursday (Jan 21).
He added that 21 locals were also checked during the operation.
