KUCHING: Seven suspected substance users including a woman were detained in an operation dubbed “Ops Cegah” last Saturday (Jan 30).

The National Anti-Drug Agency (Nada) Sarawak said the operation, involving 14 enforcement personnel, was carried out after public complaints.

The team implemented the operation in four areas, namely Kampung Gersik in Petra Jaya, Kampung Haji Baki in Padawan, Kampung Lidah Tanah in Bau and Kampung Tabuan Melayu in Kuching.

As a result, the team nabbed seven men and a woman, who were suspected to be substance users.

All of them, aged 20 to 40, also tested positive for the drug, syabu, and will be investigated under Section 3(1) Drug Dependence (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983.

The agency has advised the public not to engage in any activities related to processing, supply, smuggling, sales and drug addiction.

Those interested to participate in a drug treatment and rehabilitation programme provided by Nada are welcomed to turn up at the nearest Nada office or call the hotline at 03-8911 2233 or 019-626 2233.
