KUCHING: Police picked up seven men for alleged drug abuse at two entertainment centres last night.

Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah said a team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) conducted two raids at Jalan Ban Hock and Jalan Song Thian Cheok.

A total of 43 individuals aged between 19 and 51 were inspected and made to undergo urine tests.

Seven of them tested positive for drug abuse.

Ahsmon said the suspects were detained and investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

If convicted, they can be fined up to RM5,000 or be sentenced to jail for a term of up to two years.
