DARO: Seven men were arrested during a raid at two houses in Kpg Masjid Daro here on Friday on suspicion of drug abuse.
The raid codenamed “Ops Bersepadu” was conducted by Sarikei Narcotics Crime Investigation Department from 7.30pm until 8.20pm.
According to Daro police chief DSP Neil Beginda, the suspects are aged between 18 and 46 are labourers.
“Following urine tests conducted on the suspects, six of them tested positive for drugs. They will be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952 while another suspect will be investigated under Section 30(3) Poison Act, 1952.
“Noscapine pills worth RM650 were also confiscated from the suspects.
The raid was a success following tips-off received from the public,” he said reporters.
Neil also stressed that the police would continue to conduct operations on lairs of drug addicts in the district.
“All the suspects have been taken to Sarikei Police Headquarters for further investigation.
“I hope that the people will continue to help the police by providing relevant information so that the drug problems can be tackled effectively,” he said.
