SARIKEI: Development projects here under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) have been completed, and the residents have their local member of parliament to thank for.
Representing local MP Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, Kapitan Ling Dien Yong witnessed the handover of several completed projects to the Sarikei District Council during his inspection the projects.
Council chairman Wong Zee Yeng was also present yesterday (Nov 29).
According to a statement from Huang’s office, among the completed 2023 RTP projects is the new concrete fence at St. Alban’s Church, costing RM70,000.
Additionally, there is the upgrading of toilet facilities, the installation of new aluminium fittings, new drainage, and ditch covers at Tokong Lu Ping Kim, amounting to RM50,000.
A land reclamation project at Tokong Qian Shou Guan Yin, costing RM20,000, and a land reclamation project at Rh Clement Ak Asuh, totalling RM49,000, were also completed.
Local residents thanked Huang who also serves as Repok assemblyman and Deputy Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister, for addressing the needs of the people and resolving community issues promptly.
“They are pleased to have a representative who takes immediate action upon hearing the concerns of the people, allowing them to carry out their daily activities without disruption,” the office said.
Also present were Sarikei District Council assistant engineer Jovianna Bt Joklin and representatives from contractor firms.
