“The MYSED Go Rural programme is to deliver various activities and access to youth, sports and entrepreneurial programmes for rural youths.

“The contents of the programme are Projek Komuniti Prihatin, Fit Community, Aram Sesais, Juh Bejual, Kopi Talk and many more,” said its Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah when he delivered his ministerial winding-up speech today (May 25).

He said 250 participants from areas like Gedong, Sebauh and Sarikei had benefited from these programmes, adding that the programmes would be extended to Long Singut, Kapit in July and other divisions such as Betong, Samarahan and Miri.

“The Youth and Sports Department (JBS) also plans to organise core programmes for our youth, including Majlis Perundingan Belia Negara Peringkat Negeri 2022, Sambutan Hari Belia Negara Peringkat Negeri Sarawak, Anugerah Perdana Belia Negara Peringkat Negeri, Youth Career, Active @ Martial Arts, Malaysia Sports League and Futsal MSL Peringkat Negeri.

Apart from that, Abdul Karim said his ministry was working closely with Persatuan Mencegah Dadah Malaysia (PEMADAM) to address the issue of narcotics among youth in rural areas.

Programmes including Youth SMART, Hari Anti Dadah, seminars and educational programmes will be organised.

“It is important that we take care of the youth’s well-being from the very beginning as they represent the future leaders of Sarawak. The growth of youth must start from an early age to,” said Abdul Karim.
