MUKAH: A lorry driver died from injuries after his lorry crashed into a ditch along Jalan Kampung Sungai Kut, Dalat yesterday (Nov 7).

A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the accident involving a lorry laden with sago palm trunks, happened around 3.50pm.

The 60-year-old victim identified as Jainudin Jana, was reportedly trapped in his seat after his vehicle skidded and fell sideways into a ditch.

Firemen from Mukah station were promptly despatched to the scene, about 41km from the station, after receiving a distress call.

Upon arriving, extrication works were carried out using special tools and the victim was successfully brought out around 7.10pm.

Paramedics confirmed that the victim had died at the scene and his body was handed over to the police for further action.
