KUCHING: An elderly man succumbed to his injuries after his motorcycle was rear ended by a lorry along Jalan Pending this afternoon (Nov 29).
Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah when contacted, confirmed that the accident happened around 12.35pm when both vehicles – a motorcycle and a lorry, were moving in the same direction.
The collision occurred when a lorry rear ended the victim who was riding his motorcycle alone from Padungan to Jalan Kwang Lee Bank.
“As a result, the unconscious victim identified as Yusop Abang, 69, was rushed to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for immediate treatment.
“However, the victim was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at the hospital,” he said.
Ahsmon pointed out that the case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Earlier, passers-by who witnessed the accident rushed to help the victim who was left unconscious underneath the lorry along with his motorcycle.
