KUCHING: Five main categories will be contested at the Sarawak Housing And Real Estate Developers’ Association (Sheda) Excellence Awards, including landed residential, strata development, affordable housing development, commercial and master planning.

Organising chairman Zaidi Ahmad invites both Sheda members and non-members to submit their projects for the opportunity to showcase their expertise in the real estate industry and enhance brand reputation.

“Developers are invited to use the platform to spotlight building technology, creative architecture and design, evolved marketing techniques and superior property management services.

“The Sheda Excellence Awards adjudication panel has traditionally included representatives from the Sarawak Branches/Chapters of the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM), the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM), the Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia (ACEM), the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), the Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP) and the Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia (ILAM),” he said.

He was addressing a press conference at the Sheda conference room here on Thursday (June 27).

Zaidi announced that the submission deadline is Aug 9, 2024 noting Sheda Awards’ commitment to prioritising green designs, strategies, and programmes aligned with the Sarawak government’s green agenda.

Following this, Zaidi said the other awards to coincide with this is the Sheda CSR Leadership Award, which would also be held at the same time.

“Corporate Social Responsibility is a part of ESG. Given ESG’s current significance in the financial sector, as well as its persuasive value in both foreign and domestic investment decisions, Sheda would like to give developers the chance to be recognized for their ESG culture, projects and community impact.

“Customers today are looking for reliable developers who behave responsibly towards the environment and community and who practises good governance.”

Zaidi stated that the target is to receive five applications for each category, and the registration fees remain RM2,500 for members and RM5,000 for non-members.

Winners will be recognised and celebrated by industry peers and experts at Sheda’s annual gala dinner on Nov 9 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
