KUALA LUMPUR: National women’s 400m runner, Shereen Samson Vallabouy failed to make her mark in her debut at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States, on Sunday.
According to the championship website, Shereen only managed to record 53.56s to finish seventh place in heat six at Hayfield Stadium, causing her to miss out on the chance to make the cut into the semi-final after she finished 42nd out of 43rd in overall heat standings.
Only the first three in each heat and the next six fastest of all heats progress to the semi-final.
It was also far from Shereen’s personal best, 52.68s, that she recorded en route to securing 400m gold at the US National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II track and field championships, last May.
Last Friday, national high jumper Nauraj Singh Randhawa crashed out of the qualifying round as he failed to clear 2.17m and finished last among 14 participants. – BERNAMA
