SIBU: Two crew members of a vessel have been arrested for possession of 10,000 litres of diesel worth RM171,800.

Sarawak Marine Police Region Five commander ACP Shamsol Kassim said at about 8.15pm on Wednesday, a team from the Sibu Marine Police stopped and inspected a vessel at a wharf in Batang Igan.

“As a result of the inspection, the team found the diesel placed inside a tank on the deck,” he said yesterday.

ACP Shamsol said two crew members were subsequently detained after they could not furnish any document from the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry regarding the legality of the diesel.

The case is being investigated under Section 20 of the Supply Control Act 1960.
