SIBU: An Indonesian shipyard worker pleaded not guilty in the High Court here yesterday (Mar 21) to a charge of murder.

Muh Sakkar Arakee, 34, was charged with murdering his countryman Hapil Jamal at a workers’ living quarters in Bandar Baru Tanjung Manis at about 10.30pm on Oct 14 last year.

The offence under Section 302 of the Penal Code provides for the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

The case was prosecuted by deputy Public Prosecutor Mark Kenneth Netto while Muk was represented by legal counsel Ranbir S. Sangha.

High Court Judge Wong Siong Tung scheduled the case for further mention on Mar 27.
