Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said the government is implementing the 2023 Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) for the Kaamatan and Gawai festivals this year.
He explained that the scheme involved eight types of goods for the period of May 27 to June 2 for the Kaamatan Festival and May 29 to June 4 for Gawai. He added that the scheme only applies to Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan.
The controlled items under SHMMP for the Kaamatan festival are chicken wings, dried chilli flakes, imported buffalo meat, small red onions, garlic, live pigs, pork (belly), and pork (meat and fat).
For the Gawai celebration, the controlled items include live old chickens, chicken wings, garlic, imported round cabbage, imported potatoes, live pigs, pork (belly), and pork (meat and fat).
