MIRI: Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, expressed shock and disappointment upon discovering the deliberate vandalism and damage inflicted on the children’s play facilities at Taman Delight’s recreational park.

Ting, accompanied by Miri City Council (MCC) councillor Lisa Yu and his personal assistant Chia Kah Furng, visited the scene on Sunday following reports of the incident.

The vandalism, which occurred on February 18, involved the intentional setting ablaze of the playground equipment. Nearby residents intervened and managed to douse the flames with water.

Expressing his sadness over the incident, Ting, who is also the Piasau assemblyman, said he remains committed to provide recreational spaces for communities through his Rural Transformation Project (RTP) initiatives.

“Recreational parks promote healthy lifestyles and foster community engagement.

“We must work together to protect these valuable assets.

“YBs work tirelessly to secure funding for public projects. It’s essential that residents help protect these investments for everyone’s benefit,” he added.
