SIBU: A man was injured after he was believed to be shot by a friend while hunting for wild animals at Ulu Sungai Salim on Thursday.

Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili they received the information about the victim from Sibu Hospital at 7.30 am.

“The hospital informed that the 28-year-old man had been hit by a shotgun bullet in the neck,” he revealed in a press statement on Thursday afternoon.

Police investigation found that the victim, his brother and a friend had gone hunting and fishing on 9 pm on Wednesday.

“Around 3.30 am, the victim heard gunshots while fishing in Sungai Ulu Salim. Soon, he felt pain in the right side of his name, right arm and lower chin. His brother and friend, who had gone hunting then rushed to his aid and sent him home,” said Zulkipli

Their mother later rushed him to the hospital for treatment.

The case is being investigated under Section 8 (A) of the Firearms Act 1960, Section 37 of the Firearms Act and Section 39 of the Firearms Act 1950.

“Arrests have been made and the remand application will be extended for further investigation,” added Zulkipli.
