KUCHING: Another 10 government agencies received 10,050 boxes of ‘Sumbangsih Raya Gawai’ goodies in appreciation of their sacrifices in fighting Covid-19 in the state by the Sarawak Women and Family Department (JWKS).

“This is to recognise their efforts not only during the pandemic, but also the sacrifices they made to continue their duties even during the upcoming festive seasons,” said Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

She said this to reporters after the symbolic distribution of the boxes at Wisma Bapa Malaysia yesterday (April 23).

“This year is different; we cannot carry out the ceremony like previous years. Therefore, symbolic handover ceremonies are enough.

“We also try to keep the number of people in attendance to a minimum and keep the ceremonies short because of the outbreak.

“What is important is the message that we conveyed.

“We go the extra mile to make sure that they know that they are being valued for their contributions to the state,” Fatimah noted.

Fatimah hands over the ‘Sumbangsih Raya Gawai’ boxes to the Prison Department, at Puncak Borneo Prison Headquarter.

On Thursday, the Royal Malaysia Police was the first agency to receive the boxes, followed by the People’s Volunteer Corps, Sarawak General Hospital and Divisional Disaster Committee (JBB).
