KUCHING: Sia Sitok Sarawak and Sia Sitok Sarawak Accommodation, two locally produced travel brands, will be relaunched next month with a RM4 million sales goal.

Tourism, Creative Industries, and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said Sia Sitok Sarawak had produced sales of more than RM10.5 million the previous two years and Sia Sitok Sarawak Accommodation the previous year.

These locally produced products are designed to rekindle and promote local travel.

“I am happy to see the success of our homegrown brands. The RM10.5 million sales generated is a testimony that Sia Sitok Sarawak is a well-received campaign among Sarawakians to know their state better.

“This campaign will always stay relevant due to its increasing value among locals who have a deeper appreciation for exploring their backyard,” he said during a press conference here today.

According to Karim, Sia Sitok Sarawak Accommodation was well received when it was first launched in October last year.

“The total Sia Sitok Sarawak Accommodation campaign has thus far resulted in 16,655 rooms being booked with total sales worth over RM3.9 million.

“Packages like Kedaya Telang Usan for fans of waterfalls, Saloma Homestay for tourists looking to immerse themselves in Bidayuh culture, bird-watching in Ba’ Kelalan for the chance to see the endemic Dulit Frogmouth, unforgettable Belaga expedition and visiting Uma Belor, possibly the longest interrupted longhouse structure in Sarawak made up of seven connected blocks, are just a few examples.

“Futhermore, follow Rajah Brooke’s trail and visit Rentap’s Fort at Bukit Sadok, enjoy a rapid shooting experience with the Julau and Upriver Expedition, discover Murum and visit Limbang–Lawas Meritam Pasir Lumpur to pamper yourself with a natural mudbath,” he added.

Abdul Karim said these packages, under Sia Sitok Sarawak 4.0, were selected to introduce more of Sarawak’s gems on nature, adventure and culture elements of the state’s tourism pillars of Culture, Adventure, Nature, Food and Festivals.

He said the Sia Sitok Sarawak Accommodation 3.0 will provide the best bargains with discounts up to 35 per cent off for staycation packages from participating hotels.

The booking period will start from September 1 until October 31 this year, while the travel and stay period will start from September 1 until December 15 this year.

“This is timely for Sarawakians and non-Sarawakian residents who are planning their year-end activities,” he said.

He hoped they would take this opportunity to enjoy great deals from 35 per cent to 50 per cent off their preferred tour or staycation.

“Let’s keep working hard to rebuild the sector with an upbeat attitude. The Sia Sitok Sarawak brand will always be a fantastic effort to foster local interest in and appreciation of Sarawak’s best offerings and share them with the world.

“Let’s keep advancing Sarawak’s tourist industry in accordance with our 2030 post-COVID-19 Development Strategy. Let’s make Sia Sitok Sarawak a yearly initiative to maintain the momentum of domestic travel,” he added.
