KUCHING: Happiness shared is happiness doubled. Just ask newly-minted graduate siblings Juana and Lauren Joulan Poyong from Sabah.
They were a picture of sheer happiness after receiving their scrolls during the Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus graduation ceremony here Today (Aug 30).
Juana, 24, from Kota Kinabalu graduated with a Bachelor of Business (Accounting and Finance) while Lauren, 27, graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil).
“I feel very happy and blessed to have been given the opportunity to study at the best university in Sarawak,” exclaimed a jubilant Juana.
She is presently pursuing her Masters in Business Administration at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and plans to eventually go into academia or alternatively work as an accountant.
Lauren who is currently working as an engineer back in his hometown was equally ecstatic over his success.
“It is quite emotional, I feel a sense of pride because studying through the pandemic was not easy considering the changes from physical classes to studying at home virtually.
“It was a lonely challenge so to be able to succeed and come up on stage to receive the scroll what makes me happy.
“I’m also happy that my family members are here and I’m definitely also proud of my sister’s achievement,” he said.
