MUKAH: A sudden surge in Covid-19 cases (37 cases) reported in Sibu district today became talk of the town among residents here.
They were worried about the invisible threat of the deadly virus, which had registered a total of 1,251 cases in Sarawak, with 19 deaths so far.
A middle-aged man who preferred anonymity, said the surge in number of cases in Sibu was one thing, and the location of cases was another thing.
He added Sibu was quite near to Mukah (160km) and this is a bit of a problem, as there might be people who might have come in contact with the positive cases had come here in and out.
“It (Covid-19 positive case) is getting near now, hopefully it would not happen here,” he told New Sarawak Tribune today.
A family comprising four members was also seen and heard talking about the surge in Covid-19 cases in Sibu, while looking at a smartphone belonged to one of them as they were passing by a durian stall here.
