SIBU: The lack of parking space at Sibu Hospital will be alleviated with the construction of 120 new parking bays.
Sibu MP Oscar Ling said at a press conference yesterday that tender for the project is now open and construction is expected to begin either end of this month or early October.
The project is located at the back of the hospital’s canteen.
“The project costing RM500,000 will be completed in two months’ time,” he added.
He hoped that these additional parking bays would be able to solve — to a certain extent — the parking woes in the hospital.
“Currently there are about 600 parking bays but 400 of them are for hospital staff, leaving 200 for the public which is not enough,” he pointed out.
Separately, he said the hospital is in need of a reverse osmosis water system which costs RM230,000.
“Individuals or organisations who would like to donate the item can do so by contacting the hospital’s management.”
