SIBU: Sibu Hospital will be the first in the state to be equipped with a drive-through facility for patients to pick up their medicine without having to park their cars.
State assistant health director (pharmacy) Abu Hassan Alshaari Abdul Jabar said this after officiating at the state-level World Pharmacy Day 2019 cum Sarawak Medical Counselling Week yesterday.
He said that the facility would be made available by the end of this year.
“We have been receiving complaints that it is very difficult to find parking spaces in the hospital during office hours,” he added.
Work on the facility, he said, was expected to be ready by the end of October. After that, it would take the hospital one month to find staff to man the facility’s drug dispensing counter.
The hospital has only 600 parking spaces — 400 are reserved for its staff. It receives 400 patients at one time and most of the patients’ family members are using their own transport to visit them at the hospital.
