SIBU: The Sibu Jaya police held a crime prevention programme at Lawrence Radin longhouse at Nanga Bon in its effort to reach out to the public on yesterday (March 23).

The ‘Talk to Us’ programme which lasted for two hours was led by Inspector Rodua Tayo and his team.

Rodua and his team opened a counter to provide services to the public in the form of receiving police complaints or reports and feedback from the public on the quality of Sibu Jaya Police Station’s service and security; crime and drug information.

“The programme aims to foster and instil a spirit of understanding between PDRM and the community as a crime prevention partner,” said a statement issued yesterday.

In addition, the programme gives the local community under the administration of the Sibu Jaya Police Station an opportunity to meet the police.

During the programme, Sibu Jaya police also advised the community to be aware and not give any opportunities for criminals to commit crimes.

At the event, the public was reminded to always take care of their property and avoid being cheated by ‘scammers’.

The officer also educated the public on the current trend of crime cases that often occur in the surrounding area as well as crime prevention steps.
