SIBU: The Sibu-Lea Sports Centre 2017 League Championship is expected to begin in early September.
The deputy president of Sibu Division Football Association (SFA), Major (Rtd) Moses Ripal announced this recently, saying only eight teams will compete in the league.
“The competition for the Sibu-LSC League 2017 will begin in early September.
“Currentl,y we (SFA) are still holding the Sibu Cup football championship,” said Moses.
According to Moses, the champions will receive a cash prize of RM5,000, a trophy and medals while, second place will bring home a cash prize of RM3,000, a trophy and medals.
The third place winners will receive a cash prize of RM2,000 with a trophy and medals including a cash prize of RM800 for the fourth place.
Prizes are also awarded to the league’s top scorer and best player.
“The matches will be held on Saturday and Sunday at the Sibu Stadium and Sibu Prison football Field as the main venue,” added Moses.
Moses said SFA is in the process of forming a team for the People’s Football League (LBR) Third Edition 2017/2018 and he believed that the selected players will be able to give a good challenge in the championship.
