Sibu poised for greater development with people’s involvement

SIBU: The state government’s numerous major projects will bring benefits, opportunities and success to the central region of Sarawak by the year 2030.

Chairman of Daesim Group Datuk Lau Ngie Hua said Sarawakians can also play a major role in the transformation and development of Sibu in business and the construction industry this turning Sibu into an advanced town and financial hub of the central region.

“With the setting up of more higher institutions of learning, hospitals and medical centres, younger generations will stay and contribute further to the development of Sibu.

“With the rapid population increase, more residential units will be needed to cater to the populace,” he said when addressing at the launching of Daesim Group’s Wang Residences, its first mid-to-high-end serviced apartments by its subsidiary company Majescticplex Sdn Bhd.

The event was held at Star Mega Mall here, today (Dec 26).

Chairman of Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) councillor Clarence Ting Ing Horth and Sibu paramount Chinese leader Temenggong Vincent Lau Lee Ming were present at the event.

The launching of the Wang Residences project costing RM65 million will encompass 165 units of service apartments, 36 units of soho and 34 shop units marked another milestone for Daesim.

Ngie Hua, who is a renowned local corporate figure, said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari is working on a master plan to develop central Sibu.

He said by 2030, with the full recovery of the economy and the industries, the greater Bukit Assek Redevelopment Plan will be implemented together with a plan to build the first high-speed train running directly from Indonesia’s new capital of Nusantara (in Borneo island) to Sibu and connecting Sabah to the North and Kuching to the South.

“With the major projects in full swing, the biggest obstacle we will be facing is accomodation. In the coming years, Daesim Group will cooperate fully with the development of central Sibu.

“Daesim Group firmly believe that the Sibu team and the leadership of the Sibu Municipal (SMC) chairman Clarence and with Temenggong Datuk Vincent Lau Lee Ming are more than capable of turning Sibu into a modern and vibrant city of the future which will bring jobs, security and prosperity to the people of Sarawak for a sustainable future,” he said.

Ngie Hua said Ting is an excellent chairman who cares most about the development of Sibu, and who worked tirelessly for the development of Sibu.

On Vincent Lau, he said he is a well-known and successful entrepreneur with businesses branching out to all corners of the world, but who always finds time for his philanthropic work and has been working non-stop focusing on the quality of human resource and education, public welfare and charity works for a better quality of life.

He also said that with the wise vision shown by the leaders of University Technology Sarawak (UTC), more than 2,000 graduates along from UTS had graduated from the institution and the number is increasing.

He said with more job opportunities and greater prospects, more graduates and professionals will return and make Sibu their permanent home.

On Wang Residences which is expected to be completed in three years’ time, Ngie Hua said it is strategically situated along Jalan Tunku Rahman, a dual carriageway with ease of traffic flow.

“The green surrounding and rapidly nearby development make it perfect for own staying and investment. The location provides easy access to all major facilities.

“It is only 10 minutes’ drive to primary or secondary schools and university. The Sibu General Hospital and the specialist medical centre are also only 10 minutes’ drive away. Getting to the Sibu Airport takes less than 20 minutes due to the smooth flow of traffic,” he said.
