SIBU: Sibu has recorded a decrease in dengue cases this year, said Sibu Health Officer Dr Teh Jo Hun.
According to him, until Nov 14 this year, only 171 cases were recorded compared to 280 cases for the same period last year.
“The decrease in the number of cases is probably due to the lack of outdoor activities carried out by the public following the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) since last March.
“Although dengue cases have decreased by 39 percent, the public are advised to continue to maintain the cleanliness of their home areas and reduce outdoor activities.
“With a lot of time at home, people can tidy up their home area,” he said when contacted on Monday, adding that dengue occurs in both urban and rural areas.
In addition, Dr Teh said for the same period this year, no compound was issued to commercial or residential premises owners.
