SIBU: The Sibu Automobile Repairers Association (SARA) with Federation of Automobile Workshop Owners Association of Malaysia (FAWOAM) will organise a two-day National Electric Vehicle Forum and Workshop 2024 at Houng Seng Motor Trading Sdn Bhd (near Igan Bridge) in Jalan Ding Lik Kong here from Nov 8.

According to SARA president Penghulu Teo Nging Poh, the two-day programme held for the first time here is in collaboration with Sarawak Skills and will run from 8am to 4pm.

“This programme offers an overview of hybrid and electric vehicles with a focus on their working principies, technologies and safety working procedures.

“It is not only for mechanics or car repairers but provides knowledge for users, car salesmen and public,” he told a press conference here, Tuesday (Oct 8).

Teo, who is also the FAWOAM president, invited them, including the public, to participate in the programme.

He said special promotion registration fee is offered for participation at RM600 per person, which is comparatively cheap as those similiar programme held in Peninsular Malaysia at more than RM2,000 per person.

Registration for participation is available by scanning on the event’s poster, he said, adding on the spot registration can also done on the day of the commencing event itself.

Deputy State Secretary Datu Hii Chang Kee is expected to officiate the programme at 9am on Nov 8.

On a separate matter, Teo said SARA will hold a gala dinner in Kingwood hotel on Nov 9, in conjunction with its 45th anniversary celebration.

He said the event will be officiated by Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing as the guest of honour.

“Among others during the occasion, we will also hold our association’s 23rd installation of new office-bearers,” Teo added.
Also present at the press conference was FAWOAM deputy president Yap Koon Leong.
