SIBU: The Sibu Autism Association (SAA) will be hosting a two-day National Autism Convention here from July 27.

According to SAA president, David Ngu, this year’s convention is themed “Empowering Autism Talents for a Brighter Future.”

He said under this theme the focus is on the importance of planning for the future of children with autism.

“These children will one day become adults. How will they continue their lives without our support? That’s why it’s crucial to concentrate on their future, enabling them to become independent.

“I firmly believe they possess talents, but we must seek, understand, and nurture these talents so they can lead fulfilling lives. That’s our mission,” he said in a press conference on Saturday (April 20).

Ngu said that following the positive feedback from last year’s National Autism Convention, they decided to organise it again.

“This event will showcase an Art Gallery Exhibition featuring over 200 artworks by children with autism, along with an Autism Art Charity Gala Dinner on July 28.

“The funds raised will contribute to a new building project, underscoring our commitment to supporting the growth of this community,” he added.

For participation and further details about the event, Ngu said the public can scan the QR code on the poster.

“Early registration fees are set at a promotional rate of only RM100 without accommodation, while RM120 includes accommodation. I hope many will join us for this programme,” he said.
