KUCHING: The Sarawak government will develop an administrative complex in Siburan district to further improve service delivery in the area, said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
According to him, the construction of the administrative complex will begin next year.
“We will implement this but it will take time. We have already made plans, in 2023 we have special allocations to upgrade Siburan in terms of its administrative complex.”
He said this ahead of officiating the Sekolah Rendah Bantuan (SRB) Chung Hua Siburan Mini Sport Stadium, here, today (Nov 15).
Also present were the Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Roland Sagah, Deputy Minister of Transport I Datuk Dr Jerip Susil and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for Puncak Borneo Datuk Willie Mongin.
Abang Johari announced that Siburan sub-district was elevated to a full district on Feb 13, 2019 and officially gazetted as such with effect from March 31, 2022.
Thus, he said with Siburan elevated to a district, government offices should be developed to house government agencies.
In addition, Abang Johari said he would also establish the Siburan District Council.
“If there is a district council, then there will be a councillors to administer the district,” he said.
“Compared to the peninsula, we have a different administrative system as they do not have Temenggong, Resident and Pemanca who are under the Resident and District Officer.
“This makes our administration unique. GPS will defend the rights and ways of governing Sarawak,” he said.
