SIBU: The Covid-19 situation here is showing no signs of abating, with 94 cases reported yesterday.
Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Clarence Ting posted on social media that 88 of the cases were related to the Pasai Cluster.
He added that authorities were currently focusing on the locations visited by the cases.
“I’m sure that you are worried and wondering where is the safe place to go.
“There is a request from the authorities to close the premises involved in the seven days.
“I urge all the premises to do sanitisation work and their staff must do screening immediately.”
On the Pasai Cluster, Ting said only those who spent the night at Rumah Langi Ambau longhouse when attending a funeral were found to be positive while those who attended the burial were not affected.
“If you are worried about going to places that are affected, please remember to not enter into crowded premises or shops.
“You must clean your hands after visiting the places once you are in your vehicle.
“Remember that following the standard operating procedure guidelines is the only mechanism for self-protection against Covid-19; so please practice it regularly,” the SMC chief stressed.
