SIBU: Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) will set up more branches in the state.

This was revealed by its president Dato Ir Alice Jawan when declaring open the 27th SIDS Sibu Annual General Meeting at a hotel here, yesterday.

It was attended by some 200 SIDS Sibu members.

“We are doing this not to split the members but to gather them into smaller groups to make it easier for us to develop them and facilitate our business,” she said.

Alice, who is also permanent secretary to the Ministry of Utilities said SIDS now has 26 branches in the state with almost 14,000 members.

According to her SIDS will open its branches in Selangau and Kemena.

During the meeting, Alice also presented incentives to 18 SIDS member’s children who scored excellent results in their last year’s public examinations.

Among matters discussed during the meeting were the upcoming three major events to be organised by SIDS Sibu namely Sarawak Pua Kumbu Weaving Competition 2019, Sibu Gawai Dayak celebration 2019 and SIDS Sibu’s 30th Anniversary Dinner.

Also present were SIDS advisor Catherine Nain Abit and SIDS Sibu chairperson Angelyn Uchi Maseng.
