SIBU: Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) received a government grant from Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian last Thursday (Aug 27).
The RM20,000 grant was handed over by Dr Sim to SIDS president Datuk Ir Alice Jawan Empaling in a simple ceremony held at the ministry’s office here.
Alice in a statement yesterday said, the grant would be used by SIDS to organise workshops or programmes related to education, sports and culture for its members.
She also expressed his deep appreciation to Dr Sim for the contribution.
“We are deeply moved and proud of the government’s efforts in always supporting the movements of non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
“With the financial support provided by the government, we will use it to the best of our mutual benefit,” she added.
Also present were vice president Cynthia Zehnder and deputy treasurer Cherry Keripin.
