MIRI: Siew Tick Chai was re-elected as the 30th president of the Sarawak Taiwan Graduates’ Association for the 2024-2025 term.

He was re-elected during a ceremony held at Marriot Resort Hotel in Mulu National Park on Friday.

The event marked the inaugural swearing-in ceremony of the association’s committee members for the new term.

Distinguished guests of honour included Pang King Hoe, president of the Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities, Malaysia, and Phoebe Yeh, head of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia and Taiwan’s Representative.

During his address, Siew emphasised the leadership potential inherent in every individual.

“Everyone has leadership potential, therefore everyone is a leader in the future and can lead the future development of Sarawak Taiwan Graduates’ Association with outstanding performance and leadership,” he stated.

He further encouraged the new committee members to embrace responsibilities and challenges boldly, showcasing their leadership style as they advance.

The swearing-in ceremony was part of a comprehensive three-day and two-night programme organised by the Sarawak Taiwan Graduates’ Association, which also included the 2024 Leadership Training Camp.

The camp, held from June 28 to 30, featured 35 attendees from the association and special invitees.

Among the speakers was Datuk Richard Wee Liang Chiat, president of the Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations (SFCA), who shared insights on the current state of Chinese school education in Sarawak.
