KUCHING: Sarawak Islamic Information Centre officially launched its first Happenings @ SIIC in 2012. Happenings @ SIIC was initiated for the purpose of providing updates on programmes and activities of the Centre as well as a channel for information and knowledge outreach.
For 2018, the Centre has put in place a host of events, both its core programmes as well as a new ones. In order to promote and publicise our programmes and activities, our Centre is having a sharing session with the media and friends of SIIC at its Happenings @ SIIC 2018.
On Thursday, 18 January and in conjunction with the theme for 2018 which is “Islam and digital transformation”, there will be a sharing by YBhg Dato Hajah Norhyati bt Mohd Ismail, Special Administrative Officer, from the state’s Protocol and Public Relation Unit , at the Upper Baruk, in the morning.
This is the initiative taken by the Centre to play a better role in
disseminating and communicating information and knowledge on Islam in a multi-religious and multiethnic state like Sarawak. Also, there will be two ‘Journalist sharing’ session in the afternoon.
Approximately, 100 participants are expected to attend this event, comprising officers from government agencies, Islamic NGOs, institutions of higher learning as well as interested members of the public.
SIIC was established in 2008 and has been organising programmes and activities to promote and communicate the universality of Islam in order to create a better understanding and an enhanced appreciation of Islam among the multi-ethnic and multi-religious populace of Sarawak.
