KOTA SAMARAHAN: A silat club has become one of the platforms for teenagers in a housing area here to develop faith, discipline and personality.
Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang said the establishment of Kelab Seni Silat Olahraga Bawakali at Taman Sri Tuang here has helped local youths stay away from social ills, besides strengthening the bond among residents in the area.
“With the presence of such silat clubs, we can reduce the involvement of youths in social crimes and unproductive activities in Kota Samarahan,” she told Bernama here yesterday.
The silat club which began operating in Aug 8 last year has a membership of 55 people.
Meanwhile, club chairman Mohd Norazan Rahman said the club is set to receive an RM5,000 allocation to help improve the quality of training and silat equipment. – Bernama
