KUCHING: Over 200 silat exponents under the Seni Silat Keris Naga Dua Paloh group (Persatuan Perguruan Seni Silat Keris Naga Dua Paloh) pledged their loyalty and support to preserve silat as a national martial art heritage.
The exponents took an oath of loyalty led by the group’s founder, Guru Azmi Jahidi, during a ceremony held at the Old State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building here in Petra Jaya on Sunday night.
The ceremony, which was graced by Tupong state assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, was held in conjunction with the sports and games competition for the Old Kuching Smart Heritage (OKSHe) village.
At the ceremony, the founder of the group took the lead in a symbolic performance, portraying silat’s formation in a very classic movement.
The night ended with mock battle performances presented by the silat exponents.
